Make-A-Wish

Since Inland was founded we have been involved with a number of charities.  In particular the Make-A-Wish Foundation which grants wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.  Inland makes regular donations to Make-A-Wish and attend their fund raising events.

Inland has also contributed generously in recent years to the Variety Club Children’s Charity and on 4th June the Directors attended a presentation at which Frank Bruno presented a Sunshine Coach donated by Inland to Head Teacher Peter Skingley for the pupils of Hillcrest School.

Hillcrest School caters for 78 students aged 11–19 years with difficulties including autism, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.

Metropolitan Police Force

Since our purchase of RAF West Drayton the Metropolitan Police Force has been using the site on regular basis for Police Dog Training without charge. We believe this has benefits for both parties, as we have a regular Police onsite presence and the Dog Support Unit (DSU) gets a secure 31 acre site with a variety of different buildings and open spaces to carry out different training exercises close to London, free from interruption.

The role of the Dog Support Unit (DSU) is to provide police dog and handler teams to support the Metropolitan Police force across London and to respond to emergency calls where their unique skills can be used to help make London safer.

The dogs and handlers have a variety of skills and training is very intense, the Dog Support Unit (DSU) training for the following on our site:

  • Searching for suspects and missing people.
  • Locating objects dropped or concealed during a criminal incident.
  • Following a track left by a person on the ground.
  • Chasing and detaining a person who runs away when challenged to stop.
  • Disarming violent armed suspects and controlling hostile crowds.
  • Supporting Firearms Teams.
  • Chasing planning officers who have refused our schemes!

All of these things are done under the strict control of the handler.

Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs

Since our purchase of RAF West Drayton, Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs (Berkshire SAR Dogs) have also been using the site for training exercises free of Charge.

Berkshire SAR Dogs is a volunteer dog organisation on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist Search & Rescue Teams, the Police and other Emergency Services. There primary role is to assist in locating lost or missing vulnerable people within Berkshire and its surrounding areas.  Berkshire SAR Dogs is a registered charity and entirely reliant on sponsorship and donations to exist and carry out its work.

The Team is made up entirely of volunteers who (together with their dogs) undergo constant training and RAF West Drayton is ideal for there rigorous training program as it accommodates a variety of different buildings and large open spaces to simulate real life scenarios.

Glenister Youth FC

Apart from charities Inland believes it is important to put something back into the local communities it is involved in. Inland came across Glenister Youth FC in 2006 whilst working on a site in Middlesex. They had around 25 kids playing for them on a dilapidated pitch with no toilet or changing facilities. Inland agreed to sponsor 3 new pitches for them to move to with excellent facilities, as well as sponsoring their kits and providing the kids and staff with new jackets.

Since Inland’s involvement Glenister have thrived, with their numbers more than doubling to around 70 kids within their ranks.
