Farnborough, Hampshire
Inland have purchased from Defence Estates, the property arm of the Ministry of Defence, the former DERA Centre for Human Sciences site in Farnborough, Hampshire.
The 24.5 acre brownfield site, which is adjacent to Farnborough Airport, has the benefit of an allocation within the Rushmoor Local Plan for a mix of employment and residential development.
An outline planning consent has been granted for 399 residential units and over 100,000 sqft of commercial use development.
The site is home to the UK’s last human centrifuge facility, which is leased to QinetiQ in order to enable the continuation of work on the Typhoon Fighter Jet programme, the state-of-the art aircraft that is set to become the RAF's major front-line type. This facility has been listed by English Heritage. Historically the site has provided accommodation for the Empire Test Pilots School.
